Handheld CNC
SHAPER
A router that watches where your hands take it — and quietly fixes them. We run a Shaper Origin in this shop and hold it to the same tolerances as everything else here. This room is for techniques, files, and straight answers.

What this tool actually is
The Shaper Origin is a handheld CNC router: you set special marked tape on your workpiece, the tool’s camera reads it to know exactly where it is, and as you guide it along a cut it corrects your hand in real time. The result is CNC-grade precision on a workpiece of any size — a dining table top, a staircase, a wall — without a machine the size of a bench. It cuts from vector drawings (SVG files), which is exactly the format our plans include.
What's coming here
On the docket
- Technique films — workholding, tape strategy, depth passes, inlay work, and the habits that keep cuts to the thousandth.
- Origin-ready files — every Witness Mark plan whose build used the Origin ships with the SVG cut files.
- Honest notes — what the tool is genuinely great at, where it will fight you, and what we’d tell a friend before they spend the money.
First technique films are on the bench, landing alongside the channel’s opening builds.
